Iris x pacifica 'Bar Code'
$14.95 (Ghio '04) White lined with purple edges on falls. And it grows vigorously. This is one of Joseph Ghio's many lovely pacifica iris introductions. Tied for the 2011 Sydney B. Mitchell Medal, the highest award for Pacific Coast irises.This is a hybrid of irises that are native to the coast of North America along the Pacific Ocean. It thrives where winters are mild. So this is not a good choice for gardeners everywhere. A young plant should be watered regularly in summer for its first year, but after that will grow well without much attention. It blooms in midspring at a height of about 8 to 14 inches. Near the ocean it can take full sun but away from the coast filtered shade is recommended. Hardy to 0°F.
